The City of Edmonton conducts a census every year to count the City's population and learn about the characteristics of its citizens. The census helps the City plan services like transit, policing, and libraries.
According to the latest Edmonton census, there are 752,412 people living in Edmonton and over one million in Edmonton and the surrounding area. About 50,000 are in grades 7 to 12. In fact, there is a higher percentage of young people in Edmonton compared to other places in Canada.
Overall, the population keeps growing as people immigrate here from other provinces and countries around the world.
