Shopping

There are a lot of great shopping malls in Edmonton, and plenty of interesting shops outside the malls, too. Whyte Avenue is famous for its boutiques of unique items. 124th Street is an up-and-coming district, with fashion-forward stores popping up on the Jasper Avenue side and some specialty gift shops farther along.
You should also try out some of the farmer’s markets around town. The Old Strathcona market is open year round every Saturday, and features lots of good, fresh locally-produced food as well as artisans who make their own crafts. The Downtown Farmer’s Market runs from spring to fall, and also has plenty of great things to browse. Check Alberta Markets for other markets around town.
There are also some one or two day indie bazaars, like the Guerrilla Boutique, Royal Bison, and Stop and Shop where you can get one-of-a-kind handmade items. They’re like craft fairs for fun people. Just keep your eye out for posters, or in places like SEE or Vue Weekly for market days.
