City Archives
Edmonton became a city in 1905, but before that, this area was a trading fort (established in 1795), and even before that, this was a gathering place for Aboriginal people. Though our history seems very distant in our past, the City of Edmonton has been collecting materials that tell us what life was like years ago.
Photographs, letters, and documents from all kinds of people, from the powerful to the ordinary, are stored at the City Archives in the Prince of Wales Armouries. The City Archives is open to the public.
